Ranchi, July 29: BJP state spokesperson Pratul Shahdeo launched a scathing attack on the Hemant Soren-led government on Tuesday, calling the Jharkhand State Coordination Committee “completely unjustified and inactive.”

He alleged that the panel, formed under the pretext of ensuring development coordination, has turned into a political tool to reward ruling party leaders with ministerial perks.

“The committee was established in late 2022 with big promises, but reality tells a different story. In over two and a half years, it has held just one formal meeting—on June 10, 2023. No meeting was convened in 2024 or 2025. What is the justification for its existence?” Shahdeo questioned.

He said that while the committee remains dormant, political benefits continue to flow. “On October 9, 2024, Congress state president Keshav Mahato Kamlesh was made a member of this committee and given minister-of-state rank,” he alleged.

‘Crores Spent Without Purpose’

Shahdeo further demanded that the government explain why “several crores of taxpayers’ hard-earned money” has been spent on granting ministerial status to committee members when no meetings are taking place. He said the panel has nine members, most enjoying ministerial privileges.

“This committee was never meant for public welfare—it is only serving political compromises. Its sole purpose now is to provide ruling party leaders with government vehicles, housing, staff, and other facilities, while ordinary citizens struggle for electricity, water, roads, and jobs,” the BJP leader said.

He also accused Congress leaders of remaining silent despite having “no real say” in the coalition government, claiming they are content with “lucrative positions” and acting as “rubber stamps.”
