Bhopal, Nov 11: In its manifesto for the Madhya Pradesh elections on November 17, the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) promised houses for the beneficiaries of the state’s flagship program, Ladli Bahna, and MSPs of Rs 2,700 and Rs 3,100 per quintal for wheat and paddy, respectively.
Its additional highlights include free education for poor students up to Class 12, free education for girls from poor families up to the point of graduation and cooking gas cylinders at a cost of Rs 450 for those who are beneficiaries of the Ladli Bahna and ‘PM Ujjwala’ schemes.
The BJP president, JP Nadda, alongside the party’s state chief VD Sharma, Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan and other leaders, released the 96-page ‘Sankalp Patra’ (vision document) here.
The ‘Sankalp Patra’ also commits to providing homes for Ladli Bahna program beneficiaries and ensuring employment for at least one member in each family or the chance for self-employment.
If the BJP stays in power in the state, the party’s vision plan states that it will establish medical and technology institutes in MP that are modeled after AIIMS (All India Institute of Medical Sciences) and IITs (Indian Institutes of Technology).
In addition, it pledges to build six new expressways and allocate Rs 3 lakh crore for the empowerment of tribal people.
During his speech, Nadda said that the BJP was the only political party to have put its manifestos into practice by turning them into the government’s blueprint. According to him, the BJP uses its monitoring system to keep an eye on how the manifesto is being implemented.
The state BJP chief, VD Sharma, mentioned that the manifesto has been formulated by a committee through deliberations and by gathering input from various segments and intellectuals within society.
“The manifesto includes the aspirations of the people,” he stated, adding that divisional conventions were held to discuss it.
He explained that collection boxes were set up during the party’s “11,000-km-long Jan Ashirwad Yatra,” a widespread outreach initiative, resulting in the receipt of seven lakh suggestions. A substantial number of these suggestions underwent thorough research and were subsequently incorporated into the manifesto, he added.
MP CM Chouhan remarked that the Congress seemed puzzled about why the BJP was unveiling its manifesto on ‘Narak Chaturdashi.’ “The Congress doesn’t know mythology and history. It was the day when Krishna freed sisters from Narakasur,” he said.
The chief minister stated that they intend to use the manifesto as the guiding document for the development of Madhya Pradesh. He added that the BJP government has made efforts to meet people’s expectations by fulfilling and implementing all the promises.
