Ranchi, Sept. 21: The Central Government today notified the appointment of chief justices of eight high courts. Union Law Minister Arjun Meghwal posted the notification on his X handle.
- Justice Manmohan(presently Acting CJ of Delhi High Court) – Chief Justice of Delhi High Court.
- Justice Rajiv Shakdher (presently Judge of Delhi HC) – Chief Justice of Himachal Pradesh High Court.
- Justice Suresh Kumar Kait (Judge of Delhi HC) – Chief Justice of Madhya Pradesh High Court.
- Justice Indra Prasanna Mukerji (Judge of Calcutta HC) – Chief Justice of Meghalaya High Court.
- Justice Nitin Madhukar Jamdar (Judge of Bombay HC) – Chief Justice of Kerala High Court.
- Justice Tashi Rabstan (Judge of J&K&L HC) – Chief Justice of Jammu & Kashmir & Ladakh High Court.
- Justice KR Shriram (Judge of Bombay HC) – Chief Justice of Madras High Court.
- Justice MS Ramachandra Rao (presently CJ of HP HC) – Chief Justice of Jharkhand High Court.
Know Justice MS Ramachandra Rao
He was born on 07.08.1966 in Hyderabad. He studied B.Sc.(Hons.)(Mathematics) from Bhavans New Science College, Osmania University. He stood first in the University in B.Sc.(Hons.) Mathematics course. He passed LL.B. from the University College of Law, Osmania University, Hyderabad in 1989 and was awarded CVSS Acharyulu Gold Medal by the Osmania University for securing highest marks in the final year LL.B.
He enrolled as an Advocate on 07.09.1989.
He secured LL.M. from the University of Cambridge U.K. in 1991.
His father Justice M. Jagannadha Rao was a former Judge of The Supreme Court of India (1997-2000) and former Chairman of Law Commission of India. His grandfather M.S. Ramachandra Rao was also a Judge of The High Court of Andhra Pradesh from 1960-1961.
Justice M.S. Ramachandra Rao was elevated as Addl. Judge of the High Court of Andhra Pradesh on 29.06.2012. Appointed as Judge of High Court of Andhra Pradesh and assumed charge as such on 04.12.2013. Appointed to perform the duties of the office of the Chief Justice, High Court for the State of Telangana w.e.f. 31.08.2021 forenoon.
Transferred as Judge of Punjab and Haryana High Court and assumed charge of office in the forenoon of 12.10.2021 and remained as such upto 29.05.2023.
Justice Mamidanna Satya Ratna Sri Ramachandra Rao was administered the oath of office of the Chief Justice of High Court of Himachal Pradesh on 30th May, 2023, on his elevation from High Court of Punjab and Haryana.
