Ranchi, Feb 27: Chief Minister Hemant Soren took a strong stand against the opposition during the third day of the Jharkhand Legislative Assembly’s budget session. Responding to protests over the sand issue, he declared, “Bullying will not work anymore; the sun has set. Your troubles will only increase.”

The remark came as the opposition disrupted proceedings, demanding answers from the government. Following Soren’s statement, BJP MLAs walked out after being called “useless.”

Budget Session Highlights

The day’s proceedings began with Question Hour, during which Finance Minister Radha Krishna Kishore presented the third supplementary expenditure statement for the financial year 2024-25. Debate and voting on the statement are scheduled for February 28, after which the Appropriation Bill will be tabled. The session will then be adjourned until March 2 due to the weekend, with the full state budget set to be presented on March 3.

CM Dismisses Health Rumours

Addressing speculation about his health, CM Soren dismissed it as part of a conspiracy, accusing the opposition of spreading misinformation. He pointed out that, despite their efforts, his government has successfully launched major initiatives, including reviving RIMS (Rajendra Institute of Medical Sciences) and making Jharkhand the first state in India to introduce an air ambulance service for the public.

Soren also accused the central government of bias, claiming that while Gujarat receives 30% of budget allocations, Jharkhand gets only ₹20-30 crore. Despite this disparity, he assured that his government would not be intimidated.

In another attack on the opposition, he called them “useless,” describing them as “cunning and covered in the skin of wolves.”

“We Believe in Work, Not Talk”

Reaffirming his government’s commitment to progress, Soren declared, “This is just the beginning. They will remain in the opposition for the next five years. Every challenge they throw at us will be hit for a six, not a four.”

He concluded by stating that, despite opposition conspiracies, his government has delivered significant results—something, he claimed, the opposition is struggling to accept.
