According to the CBI, the accused officer from Ashok Vihar police station, along with a Sub-Inspector, had initially sought ₹3 lakh from the complainant in exchange for not registering an FIR.

Following negotiations, the demand was reduced to ₹2 lakh, with instructions that ₹1 lakh be paid on August 25, 2025.
Acting on the complaint, the CBI registered a case the same day and laid a trap. The Head Constable was caught red-handed while taking the money and immediately taken into custody.
