New Delhi, Nov 13: The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) has arrested a Junior Engineer from the Najafgarh Zone of the Municipal Corporation of Delhi (MCD) after he was caught red-handed accepting a bribe of Rs 10 lakh from a complainant.
The arrest came during a trap operation carried out by the agency on Tuesday.
Following the arrest, CBI teams conducted searches at the residences and offices of the accused officials, leading to the recovery of a substantial amount of cash, jewellery, and documents linked to property holdings.

The action stems from a case registered by the CBI on November 11 against an Executive Engineer, an Assistant Engineer, and the arrested Junior Engineer — all posted in the Najafgarh Zone.
They were accused of demanding illegal gratification of Rs 25.42 lakh from a contractor in exchange for clearing his pending bills worth nearly Rs 3 crore.
According to investigators, the Junior Engineer accepted Rs 10 lakh as part payment of the demanded bribe when he was apprehended.

The CBI confirmed that further investigation is underway to uncover the full extent of the corruption and involvement of other officials in the bribery network.
