CBSE science exhibition witnesses spectacle of innovation at DPS Ranchi

Ranchi, Dec. 22: The CBSE regional-level science exhibition, organised by the Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE), unfolded with grandeur at Delhi Public School, Ranchi.

The two-day exhibition, to be conducted on December 22-23, promises to showcase scientific innovation and creativity.

Teams from 41 schools across the CBSE Patna Region (Jharkhand State only) participated in this exhibition. The event’s chief guest was Manish Tyagi (Under Secretary), CBSE.

The programme commenced on an optimistic note with a welcome song and dance. The ambience was charged with excitement as participants, mentors, and guests gathered for an intellectually stimulating experience. The exhibition featured 02 categories, one for students from classes VI to VIII and the other for classes IX to XI, delving into diverse themes that reflect the breadth and depth of their scientific curiosity.

Themes of exhibition

The five themes for the exhibition—Health, LIFE (Lifestyle for Environment), Agriculture, Communication and Transport, and Computational Thinking—offer a glimpse into the multifaceted nature of the scientific endeavours awaiting exploration.

The heart of the exhibition lies in the rigorous evaluation process that each exhibit will undergo. A comprehensive set of criteria, including – Creativity and Imagination, Originality and Innovation, Scientific Thought, Principles and Approach, Technical Skills, Workmanship, Craftsmanship, Educational Value, Scalability and Utility for Society in the Future, Economic (low cost), Probability and Durability, and Presentation Effectiveness of display and relevant explanations, will be used to assess the exhibits.

The stakes are high for the 41 participating schools, as only ten will emerge victorious and secure a coveted spot at the national level of the exhibition, scheduled to take place in Delhi. These winning schools will be announced on Day 2 of the exhibition after showcasing their exceptional prowess in addressing the event’s themes and meeting the stringent assessment criteria. The results will be declared on December 23.

Scientific mindset

In his address, Manish Tyagi underscored the significance of cultivating a scientific mindset from an early age, recognizing the commendable efforts of young scientists.

Emphasizing the crucial role of creativity and independent thinking in academic pursuits, Tyagi applauded the dedication of the students to excellence. He particularly commended the high quality of the exhibits presented, highlighting the students’ impressive achievements.

Dr. Ram Singh, Principal, DPS Ranchi and CBSE City Coordinator, Ranchi Zone, said, “The exhibition is an excellent example of active learning, a cornerstone for successful learning that grooms children to be future-ready learners for life.”

He highlighted the significance of these academic activities in engaging students and teachers, instilling curiosity, and bringing out the best in them.
