New Delhi, May 29: The central government has promoted 11 Enforcement Directorate cadre officers to the position of joint director (JD) within the federal agency tasked with combating money laundering.
According to official sources, this is the first time that so many cadre officers have been promoted to the JD level in one go, which is a significant position in relation to investigations.
On Tuesday, an order was issued by the Union Finance Ministry’s department of revenue to promote eleven deputy director officers to the rank of JD.

A joint director (JD) rank is a high-level administrative role within the Enforcement Directorate (ED), responsible for overseeing investigations concerning money laundering and violations of foreign exchange regulations.
The Enforcement Directorate has over 30 joint director (JD) positions distributed among its 27 zonal offices nationwide.
Presently, only three JD positions are held by Enforcement Directorate cadre officers, while the remaining are occupied by Indian Revenue Service (IRS) officers on deputation.
