New Delhi, May 24: Chairing the 10th Governing Council meeting of NITI Aayog, Prime Minister Narendra Modi called for a unified push by the Centre and states to accelerate India’s progress. Emphasising collaborative governance, Modi said that if the Union government and all states function as “Team India”, no target would be out of reach.

The meeting, themed ‘Viksit Rajya for Viksit Bharat@2047’, saw the Prime Minister stress that India’s goal of becoming a developed nation hinges on the development of each individual state. “When every state becomes viksit (developed), then Bharat will be viksit. This reflects the aspiration of 140 crore citizens,” he said.

Modi also proposed that each state identify and elevate one tourist destination to global standards. He said the ‘One State: One Global Destination’ concept would not only boost tourism but also stimulate the growth of surrounding cities.
Highlighting the country’s rapid urbanisation, the Prime Minister called for “future-ready cities” powered by innovation, sustainable practices, and growth-oriented infrastructure.
On the subject of inclusive development, he stressed the need for increasing women’s participation in the workforce. “We must frame laws and policies that ensure respectful integration of women in all sectors,” Modi stated.

He underlined the urgency to speed up development and reiterated that with coordinated efforts between the Centre and states, India can achieve its goals well before 2047.
