Dantewada, September 3: Police sources have reported that nine Naxals were killed in an encounter operation in the forested area on the Dantewada-Bijapur border in Chhattisgarh’s Bastar region on Tuesday.
Inspector General of Police for the Bastar Range, Sundarraj P, told PTI that the gunfight erupted around 10:30 am in the forested area along the Dantewada-Bijapur border while a joint security forces team was conducting an anti-Naxal operation.

He stated that the operation, which was initiated based on intelligence about Naxalites from the West Bastar division, involved personnel from the District Reserve Guard (DRG) and the Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF).
He mentioned that the intermittent firefight persisted for a significant time, after which the bodies of nine Naxalites, wearing ‘uniform,’ were found at the location.
He also reported that a large stockpile of weapons was recovered from the encounter site.
He added that the security personnel were reported to be safe and that the search operation in the area was ongoing.
