Jamshedpur, Dec 24: Christmas is far more than a season of lights, decorations and festive treats; it carries a timeless message of hope, liberation and joy for all humanity.

The festival reminds believers that God chose to become human, so that humanity may grow closer to God, having been created in God’s own image.

This divine act is seen as the greatest expression of God’s love. By living among people and sharing in their joys, sorrows and everyday struggles, God revealed a love that gives selflessly rather than seeking gain.

Christmas, therefore, symbolises God’s willingness to walk alongside humanity through every phase of life.
The festival also calls upon people to welcome God into their daily routines—within families, workplaces, schools, journeys, marketplaces and playgrounds—making faith a lived experience rather than a distant belief.

In essence, Christmas is an invitation to create space for God in one’s heart, allowing divine love to transform individuals into more compassionate, helpful and peace-loving human beings.
The true spirit of Christmas, Father Gerry said, lies in spreading love, sharing joy and embracing the deeper happiness that the season brings.
