Ranchi, Oct 16: In a significant development, the MP-MLA court in Dumka on Wednesday acquitted Rural Development and Panchayati Raj Minister Deepika Pandey Singh and others in an eight-year-old case that was allegedly filed with political motives.

The case was lodged during the tenure of BJP leader Ashok Bhagat, who was then an MLA from Mahagama, currently represented by Deepika. According to the minister, the case was fabricated as part of a political vendetta. The charges reportedly included implicating an 80-year-old man along with several youths under false allegations.

Political Vendetta Alleged

The prolonged legal process, which caused years of mental and social distress to the accused, was described by the minister as an example of how political opponents are often targeted through false cases. She stated that the acquittal has exposed the nature of such politically motivated tactics.

Minister Hails Court’s Decision

Reacting to the verdict, Minister Deepika Pandey Singh expressed gratitude to the court and called the judgment a triumph of truth.

“Truth can be suppressed or harassed, but never defeated. The court has recognised the truth and delivered justice. This is not just my victory but the victory of every innocent person who was harassed for years due to political reasons,” she said.

The verdict has further reinforced public faith in the judicial process, she added.
