New Delhi, Dec 26: A special NIA court on Friday extended the custody of two accused being investigated by the National Investigation Agency (NIA) in connection with the Red Fort blast case, allowing the agency additional time for interrogation.

Additional Sessions Judge Prashant Sharma permitted the NIA to continue questioning Yasir Ahmed Dar for another 10 days, while Dr Bilal Naseer Malla has been remanded to the agency’s custody for eight more days.

Dr Malla was arrested in Delhi on December 9 and has been described by the NIA as a key conspirator in the case.

The agency has alleged that he knowingly sheltered Umar-un-Nabi, the main accused, and provided logistical assistance. He is also accused of destroying evidence linked to the attack.

Yasir Ahmed Dar, a resident of Jammu and Kashmir, was arrested on December 18 as the ninth accused in the case. Investigators claim he was a close associate of Umar-un-Nabi.

According to the NIA, Umar-un-Nabi was the mastermind behind the terror strike and was driving the explosives-laden vehicle that detonated outside the Red Fort on November 10, killing 15 people.
