New Delhi, Nov 11: The death toll in the powerful explosion near Delhi’s Red Fort has climbed to 12, after three more victims succumbed to their injuries on Tuesday, police officials told news agency PTI.

The blast occurred on Monday evening, when a slow-moving car exploded at a traffic signal close to the Red Fort Metro station, sending shockwaves across the national capital.

Initially, authorities had confirmed nine deaths and around 20 injuries, but the number of casualties later rose as several critically injured victims could not survive.

In response, the Delhi Police have registered a case under the Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act (UAPA) and the Explosives Act, treating the incident as a suspected terror attack.

Intensive search operations and raids are underway at several locations as investigators work to trace those behind the explosion.

The national capital has been placed on high alert, with heightened security at airports, railway stations, and bus terminals to prevent any further untoward incidents. Authorities have urged the public to remain vigilant and report any suspicious activity immediately.
