Patna, Nov 6: Under the International Election Visitors Programme (IEVP) of the Election Commission of India (ECI), a delegation of 16 representatives from seven countries arrived in Patna, Bihar, to observe the arrangements made by the ECI.
Delegates from Indonesia, Colombia, the Philippines, France, Belgium, South Africa, and Thailand are visiting polling stations to understand how the voting process is conducted in India.
The programme, organized by the India International Institute of Democracy and Election Management (IIIDEM), saw participation from all seven countries.

The delegates interacted with Chief Election Commissioner (CEC) Gyanesh Kumar and Election Commissioner Vivek Joshi, who briefed them on the functioning of India’s electoral system.
During the visit, the representatives were given a demonstration of Electronic Voting Machines (EVMs), and ECI officials explained the process of preparing voter lists and conducting free and fair elections.
Since its inception in 2014, the IEVP has served as a platform to showcase the strengths of India’s election system before the international community.
In a related development, Mosotho Moepya, Chairperson of the Election Commission of South Africa, called CEC Gyanesh Kumar to congratulate him on the smooth conduct of the Bihar elections, which involve nearly 7.5 crore voters.

Moepya praised India’s transparent and efficient election management, stating that South African parliamentarians plan to visit India soon to study one of the world’s most transparent and effective electoral systems.
