New Delhi, April 10: Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) leader and Delhi minister Raaj Kumar Anand announced his resignation from both his party and cabinet positions on Wednesday.
Anand is an MLA from the Patel Nagar constituency.
Anand alleges AAPs disrespect towards Dalit leaders
During a press conference, Anand, who held multiple portfolios including social welfare, claimed that the top leadership of AAP did not include any Dalit individuals. He further asserted that Dalit MLAs, ministers, or councillors within AAP were not being treated with respect.
“This party doesn’t respect Dalit MLAs, councillors and ministers. In such circumstances, all Dalits fell cheated. We live in an inclusive society, but it is not wrong to talk about proportion. It is difficult for me to remain in the party with all these things, hence I want to tell that I am resigning from the post,” Anand stated.

Corruption concerns and lack of accountability
He also expressed his reluctance to be affiliated with a party that is engaged in corrupt practices.
Responding to a question regarding the timing of his resignation, Anand stated, “It is not about the timing. Till yesterday, we were under the impression that we are being framed, but after the high court verdict, it seems that there is something wrong at our end.”
“From Jantar Mantar, Arvind Kejriwal had said that the country will change once the politics changes. The politics hasn’t changed but the politician has changed,” Anand remarked upon his resignation.
