New Delhi, Nov 17: In light of the Unnao rape survivor’s marriage and childbirth, the Delhi High Court on Friday ordered Delhi Commission for Women (DCW) to give her separate accommodation.
In this particular case, Kuldeep Singh Sengar, a BJP MLA at the time, was found guilty of raping the minor.
In light of threats against her, she and her family were given government accommodation and security, with the state of Uttar Pradesh covering the rent.
Justice Subramonium Prasad has issued a directive to the DCW, instructing them to arrange separate accommodation for the victim within a span of four weeks.
The bench also specified that the Uttar Pradesh Government must continue reimbursing the accommodation rent.
The high court additionally stated that the accommodation could not be withdrawn without a court order.
In light of her marriage and the birth of her daughter, the survivor had filed a petition for separate accommodation.
Advocate Harshit Gehlot represented the petitioner.
Advocate Rishikesh Kumar, representing DCW, stated that they would identify suitable separate accommodation within a four-week timeframe.
He also requested the court to instruct the Uttar Pradesh Government to persist in covering the rental expenses for the accommodation.
