New Delhi, Dec 28: A controversy surrounding the Aam Aadmi Party’s (AAP) ‘Mahila Samman Yojna’ in Delhi shows no signs of subsiding. Congress leader Sandeep Dikshit has filed a complaint with Delhi’s Lieutenant Governor (LG) VK Saxena, urging an investigation alleging potential misuse.

In response, the LG has instructed the Chief Secretary to look into the matter. The Lieutenant Governor has asked for an investigation into the registration process for the ‘Mahila Samman Yojna’ in Delhi, specifically questioning the rules under which it is being carried out and asking a report soon.

The Lieutenant Governor has launched an inquiry into allegations that “non-government” individuals are gathering personal information from Delhi residents under the guise of registration for the Aam Aadmi Party’s (AAP) proposed welfare initiative, the ‘Mahila Samman Yojana’.

BJP aims to halt this scheme under pretext of probe: Kejriwal

After the LG’s order for an inquiry, Aam Aadmi Party’s national convener Arvind Kejriwal stated that when millions of people registered for the Mahila Samman Yojana, the BJP became restless. He claimed that the BJP got extremely rattled and decided to stop these schemes by any means.

According to Kejriwal, the BJP sent their goons to attempt dismantling their camps in several places. He further alleged that the party had ordered a fake inquiry with the intention of shutting down a scheme that had not even started yet.

BJP fighting elections to stop all welfare schemes: Kejriwal

Kejriwal stated that the BJP has made its intentions clear with this move and why the party is contesting elections in Delhi. He claimed that the BJP is not contesting to do anything for the people but to shut down all welfare schemes.

According to Kejriwal, the BJP’s sole aim is to ensure that if they win the elections, they will not allow the implementation of the Mahila Samman Yojana, the Senior Citizens’ Sanjeevani Yojana, or the free bus rides for women. He further added that if the BJP comes to power, they will also shut down free electricity, water, bus services, education, and healthcare.

“We had made an election announcement that if we win the election, we will implement it. I am happy that with this step BJP has made it clear why they are contesting the election. Today they have told that if you vote for them, they will not implement the Mahila Samman Yojana and Sanjeevani Yojana. They will stop free travel for women in buses, they will stop your free electricity, free water, mohalla clinics, free treatment and free education. BJP is contesting the election to stop everything,” Kejriwal stated.
