New Delhi, Dec 26: In keeping with his vision of ‘Sabka Saath’, Prime Minister Narendra Modi attended a Veer Baal Diwas program on Tuesday at the sophisticated Bharat Mandapam in New Delhi.

Prime Minister Modi declared on January 9, 2022, the day of Sri Guru Gobind Singh Ji’s Prakash Purab, that December 26 will be observed annually as ‘Veer Bal Diwas’, in remembrance of his sons Sahibzadas Baba Zorawar Singh Ji and Baba Fateh Singh Ji’s martyrdom.

Participatory events, digital exhibits across India

In order to enlighten and educate the populace, particularly the younger generation, about the heroic bravery of the Sahibzades, the two young Khalsas who are commemorated on this day, the government would also organize participatory events around the nation.

Prime Minister Modi will flag-off a youth march later in the day to commemorate ‘Veer Baal Diwas’.

There will be a digital exhibit about the life and sacrifice of the Sahibzades on display in childcare centres and schools around the nation. There will be screenings of a movie regarding ‘Veer Baal Diwas’ all around the country.

The MYBharat and MyGov portals will host a number of online competitions, including interactive quiz shows.

Udham Singh’s birth anniversary

On this significant day, we also remember and commemorate the birth anniversary of Udham Singh, a fearless revolutionary who, in response to the Jallianwala Bagh massacre in Amritsar during Baisakhi in 1919, took action by assassinating General O’Dwyer in March 1940. General O’Dwyer had ordered his forces to open fire on peaceful protesters, and Udham Singh’s act was a form of retribution for that tragic incident.
