Dhanbad, Dec 31: In view of the heavy rush of passengers and to ensure smooth travel, the Railways have extended the up and down Dhanbad–Bhubaneswar special trains for one more month, till March 1, 2026.

Senior Divisional Commercial Manager (Sr DCM) of Dhanbad Rail Division under East Central Railway (ECR), Md Iqbal, said that train No. 02831 Dhanbad–Bhubaneswar Special will run daily from January 2, 2026 to March 1, 2026.

He added that train No. 02832 Bhubaneswar–Dhanbad Special will operate daily from January 1, 2026 to February 28, 2026.

Timings and stoppages unchanged

The official said that the timings and stoppages of both trains will remain the same as those of the existing special train services (02831/02832).

Popular route for Jharkhand–Odisha passengers

The Dhanbad–Bhubaneswar up and down special trains have emerged as a major mode of travel for passengers between Jharkhand and Odisha.

Passengers have been demanding for a long time that the “special train” tag be removed and the service be regularised.

Sources said that the proposal to regularise the train service is currently pending before the Railway Board.
