Ranchi, March 7: The price of a 14.2 kg domestic LPG cylinder has been increased by ₹60, raising the cost in Ranchi to ₹970 from the earlier price of ₹910.50. The revised rate came into effect on Saturday, March 7, according to official orders.
The hike is expected to impact households across the country. However, the subsidy for beneficiaries under the Pradhan Mantri Ujjwala Yojana will continue.
New LPG prices in major cities
Following the price revision, the cost of a domestic LPG cylinder in major Indian cities is:

- Delhi: ₹913
- Mumbai: ₹912
- Kolkata: ₹930
- Chennai: ₹928
In Ranchi, the price has risen to ₹970 per cylinder after the ₹60 increase.
Middle East tensions affecting fuel prices
The price hike comes amid rising global energy concerns linked to the ongoing conflict involving the United States, Israel, and Iran.
Reports suggest that tensions in the Strait of Hormuz, a key global oil transit route near Iran, have disrupted petroleum shipments. Several oil tankers carrying crude and petroleum products have reportedly been delayed, pushing up global fuel prices.
The disruption in international oil supply chains is now beginning to reflect in domestic fuel and cooking gas prices in India.
