Ranchi, October 22: Delhi Public School (DPS), Ranchi, organised an educational excursion to Nainital and the Jim Corbett region of Uttarakhand for 107 students of Classes IX and XI, accompanied by 12 teachers. The trip combined adventure, environmental awareness, cultural exploration and experiential learning, offering students opportunities to develop confidence, teamwork and independence beyond the classroom.
The journey began aboard the Rajdhani Express, with students travelling to Delhi before proceeding to the picturesque Kumaon region. Surrounded by mountains, lakes and lush landscapes, they experienced the natural beauty of Uttarakhand while learning to adapt to new environments and work together.

Adventure Activities Build Confidence and Teamwork
At the camp, students attended orientation sessions led by the chief camp instructor, who briefed them on safety guidelines, camp rules, equipment and the importance of discipline.
The adventure programme included trekking and activities such as the Ladder Bridge, Burma Bridge and Double Rope Bridge. These challenges encouraged students to overcome their fears, build confidence and develop problem-solving skills while learning the value of mutual trust and cooperation.
Outdoor living, room-cleaning activities and evenings featuring bonfires, music and group interactions further strengthened friendships and encouraged self-reliance and a sense of responsibility. A visit to Nainital’s Mall Road gave students an opportunity to explore the popular hill station and experience its local atmosphere.

Visit to Corbett Museum Highlights Conservation
The excursion continued to the Jim Corbett region, where students visited the Corbett Museum at Kaladhungi. The visit introduced them to the legacy of naturalist and conservationist Jim Corbett and highlighted the importance of wildlife protection and India’s natural heritage.
Students also enjoyed recreational activities at their hotel, including swimming, sports and games, providing a balance between outdoor exploration and leisure.
Jungle Safari Offers Lessons in Biodiversity
A major highlight of the excursion was a jungle safari at Jim Corbett National Park, India’s first national park and a renowned tiger reserve.
Students explored the forest environment and observed animals and birds in their natural surroundings. The experience offered practical insights into biodiversity, forest ecosystems and tiger conservation, while reinforcing the importance of protecting wildlife and preserving the ecological balance.
The day concluded with an evening of singing, dancing and recreational activities, allowing students to showcase their talents and celebrate the friendships and experiences developed during the trip.
Principal Emphasises Holistic Learning
The excursion concluded with the students travelling from the Nainital region to New Delhi Airport and then flying back to Ranchi. They returned with cherished memories, stronger friendships, greater confidence and a deeper appreciation of nature and cultural heritage.
DPS Ranchi Principal Dr. Jaya Chauhan emphasised the role of educational excursions in the holistic development of students. She said learning through observation, exploration and real-life experiences nurtured curiosity, resilience, leadership, teamwork and independence.
She also encouraged students to respect nature, appreciate India’s natural and cultural heritage, follow safety guidelines and make the most of such educational opportunities.
