Bhubaneswar, May 30: In a major anti-corruption operation, the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) arrested Chintan Raghuvanshi, Deputy Director of the Enforcement Directorate, in Bhubaneswar for allegedly accepting a bribe.

Acting on a complaint, the CBI laid a trap and reportedly caught Raghuvanshi red-handed while receiving the first instalment of a Rs 20 lakh payoff.

Sources indicate that the bribe was part of a negotiated settlement from an initial demand of Rs 5 crore, which was eventually reduced to Rs 2 crore.

The illicit payment was allegedly in exchange for manipulating a case under the Prevention of Money Laundering Act (PMLA).
Further investigation by the agency revealed that the bribe was funneled through Raghuvanshi’s brother.

The CBI has launched a deeper probe into the case to uncover the full extent of the alleged corruption.
