Patna, Jan 10: The Enforcement Directorate (ED) conducted raids on Friday at the residence of RJD MLA Alok Kumar Mehta in Bihar over an alleged case of bank fraud.
As part of its investigation linked to the leader, the agency is conducting raids at 19 different locations across India.
Sources indicate that the ED is carrying out raids at nine locations in Patna and Hajipur, five in Kolkata, for in Varanasi, and one in Delhi. The agency also raided Mehta’s official and private residences in Patna.

The early morning raids are said to be linked to allegations of public fund misappropriation. The case involves a loan from Vaishali Cooperative Bank, with the ED uncovering a scam of Rs 85 crore at Vaishali Urban Development Cooperative Bank. Following an RBI report that raised concerns, three FIRs were filed in Hajipur in connection with the case.
Mehta, a senior Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) leader is under the ED’s scrutiny for alleged financial misconduct.
Mehta, who represents the Ujiarpur constituency, has been a significant figure in Bihar politics, recognized for his strong ties with RJD chief Lalu Prasad Yadav.
He has held various roles, including serving as a cabinet minister in the Bihar government, overseeing portfolios like cooperative development.
