Kolkata, September 13: As part of its investigation into the Public Distribution System ration scam, the Enforcement Directorate (ED) on Friday carried out raids at several locations across West Bengal.

The ED carried out searches in Kolkata’s Chakraberia, along with six other locations in different districts, such as Basanti, Jaynagar, and Kalyani.

These new raids are part of the ongoing probe into the alleged ration scam in the state. Former food and civil supplies minister Jyotipriya Mallick, arrested in October 2023 in connection with the case, remains in custody.

The ED in July raided the home of a rice mill owner, reportedly a key associate of former TMC minister Jyotipriya Mallick, in relation to the ongoing probe into the alleged PDS ration scam.

In April 2024, the Enforcement Directorate (ED) in Kolkata took action by seizing 48 properties, totalling over Rs 150 crore, owned by former state minister Jyotipriya Mallick and other individuals involved in the West Bengal PDS ration scam.
