Jamshedpur, January 6: Railway authorities have temporarily suspended the operation of several MEMU and passenger trains under the Chakradharpur Railway Division following increased elephant movement in forest areas along key railway corridors.

The precautionary step has been taken to ensure passenger safety and prevent possible accidents involving wildlife.
Surge in Elephant Activity Along Rail Tracks
Railway officials said several routes pass through dense forest zones where elephant activity has risen significantly in recent days. In view of the heightened risk, train operations have been halted as a preventive safety measure.

The suspended services will remain cancelled from January 7 to January 9, during which railway staff will continue to closely monitor the situation, a South Eastern Railway (SER) spokesperson told The Jharkhand Story.

Railway authorities said they are coordinating closely with forest officials to track elephant movement, minimise disruption, and ensure the safety of both passengers and wildlife.
