Daltonganj, September 9: Former Jharkhand minister and veteran Congress leader K N Tripathy has asked for a thorough probe into two episodes, one as he said related to him and the other related to people of Palamu, where two families lost one son each who were in the police services.

Questions FIR and Accusations Against Him

Tripathy has questioned the lodging of the zero FIR against him when the complainants, the two cops who were his bodyguards, had spent 6 to 7 long hours in the Latehar police station on September 2 night, but had refrained from lodging the FIR.

He is very peeved with the accusations that he allegedly called one of his bodyguards by his caste in bad taste and also that he did any wrong with him.

The former minister squarely blamed the Palamu SP for the zero FIR lodged against him on accusations which he claimed are unsubstantiated, cooked and concocted, as he claimed in his press briefing in Daltonganj on Tuesday that he has ‘digital evidences’ to disprove the accusations levelled against him.

Criticism of Jharkhand DGP

The former minister, in the same vein, raised fingers at the state DGP, charging the DGP with using unparliamentary words against him. He went on to say that the DGP in fact threatened him, which he countered by saying “I am not the one to be so threatened. I don’t care a fig for such threats. I wonder the way the DGP so behaved with me.”

He said he has a right to know why his life has been left so unprotected by withdrawing the security.

The former minister described his two erstwhile bodyguards as aggressive and disinclined to perform duties, as one of the two bodyguards used to share his ‘location’ with others, he charged.

Tripathy further told mediapersons that the two bodyguards left him in a lurch in Latehar and declined to accompany him to Ranchi.

The former minister vowed that he would fight to the finish and never worries if he is sent to jail even and further if he is proved wrong, then he is ready to take ‘sanyas’ from politics. He reiterated he fights with the right cause on his side.

Seeks Probe Into Policemen’s Deaths

The former minister wanted a thorough probe into the loss of lives of the two cops recently in Manatu, asking the state police chief to ascertain if the SoP was followed in toto or whether the two who so lost their lives were really well armed to fight Naxals or were just having pistols by their sides.

“The zonal IG of police Palamu in his meeting at Betla recently had directed the officers to adhere to the SoP, but the tragedy that happened in Manatu where two policemen were killed showed the SoP was flouted more than followed”, charged the former minister.

“Fighting Naxals need proper planning and strategy. Were there enough cops to zero in on the Naxals then?” Tripathy quipped.
