New Delhi, Dec 30: Farmers have announced a Punjab shutdown/bandh today, December 30, in support of 13 demands, including MSP. The protest has begun on National Highway.

According to reports, examinations in several universities across Punjab and Chandigarh have been postponed. Police in all districts of Punjab are on high alert.

As per reports, all highways in Punjab were closed from 7 a.m. today, and bus services were halted from 10 a.m. Thousands of farmers have staged sit-ins on the Amritsar-Delhi and Jalandhar-Delhi highways.

Due to the Punjab shutdown, over 150 trains, including the Vande Bharat Express, have reportedly been cancelled, and several train routes have been diverted.

During the shutdown, all markets and institutions in the state remain closed, and the airport road, which connects Punjab to Delhi and Himachal Pradesh, has been blocked. Traffic is also stalled at the Dharedi Jatta toll plaza on the Bathinda Highway.

In the state, rail and bus services, all shops, vegetable markets, government and private offices, petrol pumps, and gas stations remain closed. However, emergency services, including medical stores, are operational. Movement for those heading to airports, weddings, interviews, and exams has not been restricted.

A langar has been set up for farmers at the Golden Gate in Amritsar. Farmer leader Sarwan Singh Pandher stated that the shutdown has received full support from the public.
