Jamshedpur, Nov 16: Fire broke out in the closed Incab Industries Ltd under the Golmuri Thana area on Thursday afternoon, leading the police to press fire-tenders in service.

The fire caught at the engineering department’s godown of the company, but it raised eyebrows as there has been no electricity connection for the past 23 years ever since the thriving industrial unit was declared as sick and closed.

Fire fighters from Tata Steel and Jharkhand Fire Station were busy extinguishing the fire as thick columns of smoke kept on billowing over the evening sky surrounding the closed company.

The OC, Golmuri Thana, when queried could not give an answer as to how did fire broke out in a closed industrial unit.

“Let the razing fire be doused. We will conduct an investigation. Then only we will be able to say anything about the reason behind the fire,” said the OC while talking to The Jharkhand Story.

On an earlier occasion too a devastating fire had broken out in the same closed company, also popularly called Cable Company, a decade ago. That time the fire had caught in the company’s general office, causing the records and important documents to reduce to ashes.

Apart from these fire incidents, the incidents of thefts from inside the closed company take place at regular intervals with the police doing little to stop this all.
