New Delhi, August 5: Former Jammu and Kashmir Governor Satya Pal Malik passed away on Tuesday at the age of 79. He was undergoing treatment for kidney-related issues at Ram Manohar Lohia Hospital in Delhi.

Malik served as the last Governor of the erstwhile state of Jammu and Kashmir from August 2018 to October 2019.

Notably, during his tenure, on this very day—August 5, 2019—Article 370 was abrogated, leading to the bifurcation of Jammu and Kashmir into two Union Territories: Jammu & Kashmir and Ladakh.
