Dhanbad, Jan 17: In a late-night search operation, police arrested four criminals and recovered two country-made pistols and five live cartridges on the Rajganj–Tetulmari road near Sondaha Basti under Rajganj police station limits on Friday night.

According to Rajganj police station officer-in-charge Alisha Kumari, the operation was launched following inputs from senior police officers that criminals were planning to commit a crime. Acting on the tip-off, police set up a search operation on the Rajganj–Tetulmari road.

At around 11.45 pm, four youths riding two motorcycles attempted to flee after noticing the police presence. During the chase, the riders lost control of their bikes and fell on the road, following which all four were apprehended on the spot.
Weapons, Ammunition and Bikes Seized
During the search, police recovered two country-made pistols, five live cartridges, and four mobile phones from their possession. Both motorcycles used by the accused were also seized.
Accused Admit Involvement in Firing, Robbery
The arrested persons were identified as Rinku Mandal (20), Ravi Mahto (19), Gautam Dhiver (30) and Shamshul Ansari (26). During interrogation, they reportedly admitted their involvement in the firing incident on shop owner Arjun Mahto in Tetulmari on January 4, besides their role in robbery cases.
Police Team Led Jointly by Rajganj, Tetulmari Officers
The operation was jointly led by Rajganj police station officer-in-charge Alisha Kumari and Tetulmari police station officer-in-charge Vivek Choudhary. Inspector Shoukat Ali, Inspector Gurudayal Sabar, and other personnel were part of the search operation team.
