Ranchi, July 24: The appointment of Ashiss Kumar Dash as the next Chief Executive Officer (CEO) and Managing Director of Infosys is more than a leadership transition at one of India’s biggest technology companies—it’s an inspiring story of perseverance, academic excellence and decades of corporate leadership that began in a small village in Jharkhand.
Hailing from Rajnagar in Seraikela-Kharsawan district, Dash will take charge as CEO and Managing Director of Infosys on April 1, 2027, succeeding Salil Parekh after the completion of his second term. The Infosys Board has approved his appointment for a five-year term, subject to statutory and shareholder approvals.
A small-town boy with big dreams
Born into a modest family, Ashiss Kumar Dash is the youngest among five brothers. His elder brother, Manas Shankar Ranjan Dash, recalls that Ashiss displayed exceptional academic ability from an early age and was known for his discipline, hard work and unwavering determination to excel.
Life tested him early. While studying in Class 12, Dash lost his father. Despite the personal setback, he remained focused on his education and continued his pursuit of academic excellence.
His journey began in a government primary school in Rajnagar before he moved to SS High School, Rajnagar, and later Tata College, Chaibasa.
From IIT Kharagpur to global leadership
Dash secured admission to IIT Kharagpur, where he earned his engineering degree, laying the foundation for a career in technology and business leadership.
Recognising the importance of continuous learning, he later completed the Global Leadership Program at Stanford University and the Senior Executive Program at London Business School, sharpening his expertise in strategy, leadership and global business management.
A 31-year rise through Infosys
Ashiss Kumar Dash joined Infosys in 1995 as a software engineer. Over the next three decades, he steadily climbed the corporate ladder through a series of leadership roles in delivery, client engagement, sales, operations and business management, becoming one of the company’s most respected executives.
Today, he serves as Executive Vice President and Global Head – Services, Utilities, Resources, Energy and Enterprise Sustainability, leading a business portfolio spanning more than a dozen industry verticals and serving Fortune 500 and Global 2000 companies worldwide.
An expert in AI-led digital transformation
Dash is widely recognised for his expertise in artificial intelligence (AI), cloud computing, digital transformation and enterprise modernisation. During his career, he has helped more than 500 global enterprises modernise their technology ecosystems and adopt AI-driven business solutions.
He has led large-scale transformation programmes across sectors including energy, utilities, manufacturing, natural resources and sustainability, combining technological innovation with operational excellence. He is also credited with driving AI-led business transformation, institutionalising innovation and promoting the future of work across Infosys.
Beyond corporate leadership, Dash contributes to international discussions on energy transition and sustainable development, participating in global forums such as the World Economic Forum and the UN Global Investors for Sustainable Development Alliance.
Leading Infosys into the AI era
As CEO-designate, Dash is expected to steer Infosys through a period of rapid technological disruption driven by artificial intelligence. The leadership transition comes as enterprises across the world accelerate investments in AI, automation and digital transformation.
Dash has said his priority will be to build on Infosys’ existing AI capabilities and strengthen the company’s position as a global technology and consulting leader in the AI era.
For Jharkhand, his elevation to the top post at Infosys is a proud milestone—demonstrating that talent nurtured in government schools and small towns can reach the highest levels of global corporate leadership.
