Daltonganj, March 26: Garhwa police made a spectacular haul of arms and ammunition. They recovered 3 7.65-mm semiautomatic pistols, 4 desi kattas, 1 bolt-action rifle, and 7 live cartridges of 0.315 bore ahead of the Lok Sabha election slated for May 13.

The recoveries were not made from any firing field or fighting place but from two houses—one of Shubham Paswan and the other of Rakesh Chowdhury! Both are residents of Hoor.

Paswan’s house recovery was larger than Rakesh’s recovery, which was of 1 bolt action rifle.

The weapons were kept in a jute bag beneath a cot.

Garhwa SP Deepak Pandey told the Jharkhand Story correspondent today, “There was a precise tip-off about weapons, etc., in the house of one Shubham Paswan at village Hoor. My boys of the Garhwa police station laid a siege to this house, and we got it.”

Paswan disclosed the name of Rakesh, from whose house one bolt action rifle was recovered.

Again,, the recovery was made in the wee hours of Holi on Monday, March 25, outwitting Shubham Paswan, whom police do reach even on the day of festivity.

Deepak Pandey said, “Shubham Paswan is not the key player. He said he was given this consignment by his employer, Satender Choubey, who runs a cement shop where Paswan works as an assistant.”

When asked where Satender Choubey had these weapons, etc., the SP said, “Choubey got it from Pappu Chowdhury. Pappu is a bad name in the illicit arms racket. He has been to jail. There are four criminal cases against him. One of the cases is the Arms Act. Pappu procures illicit arms from somewhere in Bihar.”

Among the recovered are two spent cartridges, also called empty cartridges. These 2 empty cartridges were of celebratory firing. Satender Choubey did it on his wedding celebration!

Pappu Chowdhury is sad that Satender Choubey has not made payment to him for these weapons, as now he will be spending time in jail.

Pandey said, “Police have remanded in judicial custody 3 identified as Shubham Paswan, 28, Rakesh Chowdhury, 25 and Pappu Chowdhury, 45. All are the residents of Garhwa.”
