150 students from DPS Ranchi were engaged and enthralled as they explored the intricate relationships within ecosystems, the impact of human activities on biodiversity, and the potential for restoration efforts to make a meaningful difference. The films not only highlighted the ecological crises but also celebrated successful restoration projects from around the world, emphasizing the power of collective action.
Following the film screenings, the event transitioned to a hands-on scientific experiment on the theme of ecosystem restoration. Students were divided into groups, and each group was given the task of designing and conducting a small-scale experiment that mirrored real-world restoration efforts. The experiments ranged from soil rejuvenation techniques to water purification methods, demonstrating the multifaceted approaches to ecosystem restoration.
Teachers and experts from the ‘Goethe Institut’ guided the students through the experimental process, fostering a collaborative and experiential learning environment. The experiments not only allowed students to apply scientific principles but also encouraged critical thinking and problem-solving skills.
Speaking on the occasion, Principal Dr. Ram Singh said, “The Science Film Festival provided a unique platform for our students to connect with complex environmental issues in a visually compelling manner. The subsequent scientific experiments allowed them to translate theoretical knowledge into practical solutions, fostering a deeper understanding of the importance of ecosystem restoration.”
