Barkagaon (Hazaribagh)., February 9: The Hazaribagh district administration on Friday organised a Gram Sabha at the Barkagaon block headquarters for the Gondalpura mining project allotted to Adani Enterprises Limited by the Ministry of Coal.

Senior administrative officials and consultants from the Centre for Advancing and Launching Enterprises (CrAdLE) were also present during this time.

However, the villagers expressed their opposition. Women and other villagers were present with banners and posters in their hands and also raised slogans.

During the protest, the officials requested the villagers to register their complaints, demands, and opposition in writing, after which the villagers submitted their application to the officials in the block.

Earlier, many villagers had also submitted a memorandum to the Deputy Commissioner demanding the organisation of a Gram Sabha and presented their demands. The villagers said that the opening of the mine will provide employment and livelihood opportunities, so the project should be started soon.

During this time, CrAdLE agency officials also gave information about the rehabilitation scheme for the potential displaced and families due to the project’s land acquisition.

On this occasion, officials from the district administration registered the villagers’ requests. Present on the spot were Magistrate Deepak Kumar Dubey, Circle Officer Baleshwar Ram, Barkagaon DSP, BDO, CI Anuj Kumar, revenue personnel Ashish Kumar, Jitendra Kumar, and SHO Vinod Tirkey.
