Ranchi, Sept. 8: Chief Minister Hemant Soren on Sunday paid tribute to the martyrs of the Gua firing incident. He said that their sacrifice would not go in vain.

He also shared a post on Instagram. He wrote ‘my heartfelt tribute to the brave sons martyred in the Gua firing incident. Your sacrifice will not go in vain. We will continue to take Jharkhand on the path of development. All of us Jharkhandis will work together for peace and progress.’

8 tribal agitators were killed by police bullets

Notably, on September 8, 1980, the police opened fire on the injured who had come to the hospital in Gua for treatment. In this firing, eight tribals died on the spot. Earlier, three tribal agitators lost their lives in the police firing in the Gua market. After this shooting incident, the Bihar government banned the tribals from possessing bows and arrows.
