Mumbai, May 18: Mumbai Indians captain Hardik Pandya has been banned/suspended for one match and imposed a fine of 30 lakhs. This action has been taken for the third slow over-rate offence this season.

In their last match of the season against Lucknow Super Giants on Friday, MI maintained a slow over-rate. MI lost the match by 18 runs and finished their campaign by being the bottom-most team on the table.

With no remaining matches for Mumbai Indians in this season, i.e., IPL 2024, this decision will be applicable in the first match of the next season (IPL 2025). This means Pandya will not be able to play the first match of IPL 2025.

Notably, this is the third offence of slow over-rate by MI this season, leading to the ban imposed on captain Hardik Pandya. Additionally, a fine has been levied on him.

Besides this, the BCCI has imposed a penalty of 50% of the match fee or 12 lakhs rupees, whichever is lower, on other players of the team including impact player Rohit Sharma.
