New Delhi, January 20: Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Tuesday congratulated Nitin Nabin on his election as the Bharatiya Janata Party’s new national president, describing the 45-year-old leader as a “millennial” who represents a generation that has seen rapid change in India.
PM Modi Calls Nitin Nabin His ‘Boss’ in Party Matters
Addressing party workers at the BJP headquarters, PM Modi said that in organisational matters, Nitin Nabin would be his superior.
“When it comes to party matters, Mananiya Nitin Nabin ji is my boss. I am a worker,” the prime minister remarked, drawing applause from the gathering.
PM Modi said Nabin’s responsibility goes beyond managing the BJP and includes ensuring coordination among all NDA allies.

Elected After Extensive Organisational Process
Nitin Nabin was declared the BJP national president at the conclusion of the Sanghatan Parv, a comprehensive organisational exercise involving elections from the booth level to the national level.
Describing him as a leader of the digital age, PM Modi said Nabin belongs to a generation that grew up listening to radio news and is now well-versed in artificial intelligence.
Youthful Energy Backed by Experience
Highlighting Nabin’s leadership qualities, PM Modi said he combines youthful energy with rich organisational experience. He also recalled the BJP’s growth under former leaders Atal Bihari Vajpayee, Lal Krishna Advani, and Murali Manohar Joshi, followed by expansion under M. Venkaiah Naidu, Nitin Gadkari, Rajnath Singh, Amit Shah, and JP Nadda.
Nitin Nabin Takes Charge as BJP’s Youngest National President
Nitin Nabin officially took charge as the BJP’s youngest national president, replacing JP Nadda. Party sources said his appointment reflects the BJP’s focus on organisational strength and generational transition ahead of key state elections and the 2029 Lok Sabha polls.
Known for Coordination and Party-First Approach
Sources within the BJP describe Nabin as hardworking, grounded, and accessible, with a strong emphasis on coordination. His caste background from the Kayastha community is also seen as politically neutral and acceptable across groups.
Proven Track Record in Elections
Despite his age, Nabin brings nearly two decades of political and organisational experience. A five-time MLA from Bihar, he has served as a minister and held key party posts, including National General Secretary of the Bharatiya Janata Yuva Morcha and BJP Bihar unit president.
His leadership during the 2023 Chhattisgarh Assembly elections, where the BJP returned to power against expectations, is widely seen as a turning point that paved the way for his elevation to the top party post.
Key Role in BJP’s Recent Political Gains
Party observers note that Nabin’s success in Chhattisgarh and his role in helping the BJP regain power in Delhi demonstrated his ability to handle complex political challenges, reinforcing the leadership’s confidence in him.
