Jamshedpur, April 1: Jharkhand is set to witness intense heatwave conditions, rising temperatures, and intermittent thunderstorms over the next few days, as multiple weather systems keep the atmosphere unstable.
Weather systems keep conditions unstable
A cyclonic circulation, supported by moisture from the Bay of Bengal, remains active over the eastern parts of the region.

An east–west trough and a north–south wind discontinuity are increasing atmospheric instability, raising the chances of thunderstorms, lightning, and gusty winds across Jharkhand.
Heatwave conditions intensify across districts
In Jamshedpur and adjoining districts, temperatures are expected to rise sharply, with the mercury likely to be between 39–41°C from April 1 to April 4.
Peak heatwave-like conditions are expected on April 3 and 4, as dry westerly winds push temperatures close to heatwave thresholds in several pockets.
Despite the intense heat, parts of northern, central, and north-western Jharkhand may witness isolated thunderstorms, lightning strikes, and gusty winds (30–50 kmph), especially on April 1 and April 4.
Late afternoon or evening cloud build-up may trigger short spells of rain in select areas.
Advisory as alerts issued in parts of state
Humidity levels will remain low at around 25–30%, leading to dry heat conditions, while nights are expected to stay warm with limited relief.
A slight change is likely after April 5, with increased cloudiness and chances of light rainfall, offering some respite from the heat.
With Yellow Alert and Orange Alert in place, residents are advised to avoid direct sunlight exposure, stay hydrated, and take shelter during lightning activity.
Farmers should closely monitor weather updates due to the risk of sudden gusty winds and lightning.
