Jamshedpur, June 10: The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued a heavy rainfall alert for several districts of Jharkhand on June 12 and 13, with thunderstorms, lightning and strong winds expected across large parts of the state.

Heavy Rain Forecast for Several Districts
According to the forecast, heavy rain is likely at isolated places on June 12 in Dumka, Jamtara, Deoghar, Dhanbad, Giridih, Bokaro, East Singhbhum, West Singhbhum and Seraikela-Kharsawan districts.

On June 13, heavy rainfall is likely at isolated locations in Dumka, Jamtara, Deoghar, Dhanbad, Sahibganj, Pakur and Godda districts.

The weather office said rainfall activity is expected to intensify as conditions become increasingly favourable for the advance of the monsoon over the region.
Thunderstorm and Lightning Warning
The IMD has also warned of thunderstorms accompanied by lightning and gusty winds reaching speeds of 50-60 kmph in parts of Dhanbad, Bokaro, Koderma, Hazaribagh, Ranchi, Khunti and Ramgarh districts on June 12.
In the remaining parts of the state, winds are expected to blow at 40-50 kmph.
Thunderstorm and lightning activity is expected to continue across Jharkhand on June 13 as well, raising the risk of weather-related disruptions.
Monsoon Set to Advance Further
Meanwhile, meteorological conditions remain favourable for the further advance of the southwest monsoon into Jharkhand and adjoining regions over the next three to four days, increasing the likelihood of widespread rainfall across the state.
The expected showers are likely to bring relief from the prevailing heat and humidity, particularly in southern and eastern districts.
The IMD has advised residents to remain vigilant during thunderstorms and avoid taking shelter under trees, near electric poles or in open areas during lightning strikes.
People have also been urged to monitor weather updates and take necessary precautions during periods of strong winds and heavy rainfall.
