Heavy rain forecast for Jharkhand; monsoon begins withdrawal from Rajasthan

Jamshedpur, Sept 15: The Ranchi Meteorological Centre has issued warnings of heavy rainfall and thunderstorms accompanied by lightning and gusty winds (30–40 kmph) over different parts of Jharkhand during the next four days.

Sept 15: Thunderstorm and lightning with gusty winds likely at isolated places across the state.

Sept 16: Heavy rainfall expected over southern, eastern, and adjoining central parts of Jharkhand. Thunderstorm with lightning and gusty winds may occur at isolated locations.

Sept 17: Heavy rainfall likely over north-eastern and adjoining central regions. Thunderstorm with gusty winds and lightning may strike at isolated spots.

Sept 18: Northern and adjoining central parts of the state may witness heavy rain, along with thunderstorm, lightning, and gusty winds at isolated places.

Meanwhile, the Southwest Monsoon has begun its withdrawal from some parts of West Rajasthan on September 14, three days ahead of its normal date of September 17.

The current withdrawal line passes through Sri Ganganagar, Nagaur, Jodhpur, and Barmer. Conditions remain favourable for further withdrawal from additional parts of Rajasthan, Punjab, and Gujarat in the next 2–3 days.

A low-pressure area over north Telangana and adjoining Vidarbha persists with an associated cyclonic circulation extending up to 4.5 Km above mean sea level, expected to gradually move west-northwest towards central Vidarbha before shifting northwards.

Additionally, a trough in westerlies lies along longitude 84°E, north of latitude 23°N, and another upper air cyclonic circulation persists over the southeast Bay of Bengal between 3.1 Km and 5.8 Km above mean sea level.
