Ranchi, July 31: BJP state president and former chief minister Babulal Marandi today took a big dig at the state government.

Marandi said that even in its last days, the state government did not change its character. “Even while leaving, it is committing injustice and atrocities. Whatever it did to the public for 5 years, to the youth, farmers, unemployed, women, tribals, Dalits and backward classes, it repeated the same today with the MLAs of the opposition inside the House,” he alleged.

He said that if the opposition does not ask questions in the House, then where will they ask? “Will the House run only with the support of the ruling party or is the opposition also involved in it?” he asked.

“When BJP and NDA MLAs are sitting on a dharna inside the House, then cutting off electricity and shutting down the AC is not justice. After all, what does this government want to show?” he said.

He said that the BJP will force them to answer the questions of the public from the road to the House. They cannot run away from the questions, he added.

Speaker becomes government’s toolkit: Pratul

BJP spokesman Pratul Shahdeo said instead of being the assembly speaker, Rabindra Nath Mahto has taken on the role of JMM president.

“The Hemant Soren government has written a black chapter in the history of the country’s democracy today. Emergency was repeated in the assembly at the behest of the government. For the first time in the history of the country, the electricity and water supply of the assembly was cut off in the presence of MLAs. Even women MLAs were not spared. Restrictions were imposed on going to the toilet,” he added.

Pratul said that in a democracy, everyone has the right to protest. “But the way the government showed its Hitler-like face today is shameful,” he maintained.
