Shimla, August 1: Himachal Pradesh is experiencing widespread devastation in several districts. Continuous heavy rainfall has led to the collapse of numerous bridges and landslides, blocking many roads. Additionally, several rivers in the state are in flood.
In the regions of Kullu, Mandi, and Shimla, cloudbursts have caused severe destruction. Over 58 people are reported missing in these areas due to the cloudbursts, and three fatalities have been confirmed.
The heavy rains have also resulted in the washing away of numerous homes and roads, and two hydroelectric projects have been damaged.
The National Disaster Response Force (NDRF), Indo-Tibetan Border Police, local police, and Home Guard have initiated rescue operations, and drones are being used to search for the missing individuals.

Cloudbursts and rise in water level of rivers
In the Malana region of Kullu, heavy rainfall has caused the Parvati and Beas rivers to flood, surpassing their danger marks.
Late Wednesday night, the water level in the Parvati River rose dramatically, engulfing several homes and vehicles. A four-story building was swallowed by the Parvati River in just seven seconds. The dam of a power project in Malana village also overflowed.
In Mandi district, a cloudburst has resulted in one death and nine people being reported missing.
The local administration is engaged in relief efforts and has requested assistance from the Air Force and NDRF.
In Shimla district’s Rampur subdivision, over 30 people are missing following a cloudburst in the Jhakhari area.
Amit Shah assures CM Sukhu of help
Union Home Minister Amit Shah spoke with Himachal Pradesh Chief Minister Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu to assess the situation arising from the cloudbursts in the state.
Shah assured the Chief Minister of all possible assistance from the central government during this crisis.
He assured that the central government will provide all kinds of support, including deploying National Disaster Response Force teams for rescue and relief operations.
