New Delhi, Sept 25: After the violence in Leh, Ladakh, Sonam Wangchuk is once again in the spotlight. The Home Ministry has levelled serious allegations against him, stating that he incited the crowd through provocative statements.
Amid the violent incidents, Wangchuk reportedly broke his fast and left for his village by ambulance without making any significant effort to control the situation.
Security agencies had been monitoring Wangchuk for some time. Reports indicate that the CBI is investigating him and his organization for foreign funding. The probe has been ongoing for the past two months.

The CBI had launched an investigation into Wangchuk’s NGO, the Himalayan Institute of Advanced Learning (HIAL), for alleged violations of the FCRA. In August this year, the Ladakh administration canceled HIAL’s land allotment.
On Wednesday, markets in Leh city remained closed following a bandh call. A large number of protesters gathered at NDS Smarak Maidan and then took to the streets, chanting slogans in support of the Sixth Schedule and full statehood.
Some demonstrators pelted stones at the BJP office and the Hill Council headquarters, setting fires and burning several vehicles.
