Dubai, May 3: The International Cricket Council (ICC) released its annual team rankings update on Friday, with Australia securing the top rank in Test cricket and India retaining their dominance in both white-ball formats.

Australia, the current holders of the ICC World Test Championship title, have surpassed India to claim the top position in Test cricket following their impressive 209-run victory over India in the championship decider at The Oval last year, according to the ICC.

Australia has the top position with 124 points, second-ranked India has 120 points whereas England is in third place with 105 points.

The rankings update solely considers the performances of teams from May 2021 onwards.

Results achieved between May 2021 and May 2023 are given a 50% weighting, while those in the subsequent 12 months are given a 100% weighting.

Nevertheless, India maintains its position at the top of the ODI and T20I rankings following the yearly updates.

With 122 points in ODIs, India is at the top followed by second-ranked Australia which has 116 points. South Africa with 112 points is ranked fourth, Pakistan with 106 points is at the fourth position and New Zealand is at the fifth spot with 101 points.

India continues to lead the updated T20I rankings comfortably with 264 points as Australia, now in second place with 257 points, has surpassed England, who are in third place with 252 points.
