Dhanbad, Nov 19: The two-day innovation competition Idea Tribe, involving engineering colleges and polytechnic institutions of Jharkhand, concluded today at BIT Sindri.
The event was organised by the Institution’s Innovation Council (IIC), BIT Sindri, in collaboration with the Jharkhand University of Technology (JUT), Ranchi. A total of 126 student teams from engineering and polytechnic institutions under JUT participated in the competition.
Students Present Ideas for Tribal Social and Economic Development
Chief organiser Prof. Prakash Kumar said all participating teams presented innovative and impactful ideas aimed at the social and economic development of tribal communities over the two days.

The results of the winning institutions will be announced tomorrow.

Focus on Health, Environment, Digital Access and Tribal Development
On the second day, teams showcased socially significant ideas related to health, environment, digital services, and tribal development.
Prof. Prakash Kumar, president of IIC BIT Sindri, said the highlights included:
- a solar-energy-based model village,
- a cloud-kitchen model to empower tribal women,
- offline-enabled digital kiosks offering e-learning, tele-health, financial services, and handicraft market access,
- a language-assistance platform for preservation of tribal languages and improving access to government services.
- These projects reflected the students’ focus on innovation, sustainability, and community upliftment.
Expert Jury Evaluates Innovation and Feasibility
A distinguished panel of experts served as the jury for Idea Tribe. Members included:
Prof. Prakash Kumar, Prof. S. C. Dutta, Prof. R. K. Verma, Prof. Rahul Kumar, Ravi Ranjan Singh (Startup Jharkhand), Sumit Kumar (Director & CEO, Visapen), Prof. Murli Manohar, Prof. Vijay Kumar Besra, Prof. Mukesh Chandra, and Rajesh Kumar Das (Texmin In-charge, BIT Sindri).
The jury evaluated presentations on parameters such as innovation, relevance, impact, feasibility, and scalability.
IIC 8.0 Marks BIT Sindri’s Push Toward Innovation
On the successful organisation of IIC 8.0, Prof. Prakash Kumar thanked the faculty and student coordinators for their support. He added that the continuous guidance and encouragement of Director Prof. Pankaj Rai have helped the institute move toward new dimensions of innovation and research.
IIC 8.0 Convener Prof. Rahul Kumar delivered the vote of thanks, expressing gratitude to participating teams and jury members.
