Jamshedpur, Dec 14: The Indian Institute of Management (IIM) Ranchi welcomed alumni from all batches to its annual Alumni Homecoming ’24 – The Classic Caravan, to be held on December 14 and 15.
The two-day event began with a memorable inaugural ceremony that celebrated the institute’s remarkable journey and its strong bond with its alumni.
The ceremony commenced with a traditional lamp-lighting ritual, followed by an inaugural address by Professor Amarendu Nandy, Chairperson of the Alumni Relations Committee.
Professor Nandy spoke about the phenomenal journey of IIM Ranchi, reflecting on how far the institute has come since its inception.
Professor Tanusree Dutta, Dean of Academics, extended a heartfelt welcome to the alumni, describing IIM Ranchi as a home for all its graduates.
Professor Varun Elembilassery, Chairperson of the Corporate Relations and Placements Committee, highlighted the institute’s continuous evolution and growth.

Professor Amit Sachhan, Dean of Executive Programmes, acknowledged the invaluable role alumni have played in shaping the institute’s journey and the institute’s readiness to conduct impactful training programs, while Professor Anand, Dean of Administration, reminisced about the nostalgia surrounding past batches and invited alumni to suggest ideas for further enhancing the campus.
Professor Deepak Srivastava, Director of IIM Ranchi, announced plans to establish formal alumni chapters across cities, aiming to strengthen the network and foster collaboration.
He encouraged alumni to provide feedback on bridging gaps in academic programmes and emphasized IIM Ranchi’s multidisciplinary approach to education.
Prof. Srivastava mentioned that the Alumni Homecoming ’24 beautifully bridges IIM Ranchi’s cherished past with its bright future, culminating in the celebration of the institute’s 16th Foundation Day on the second day of the event.
The inaugural session concluded today with a lively panel discussion on “Unlocking the Power of Alumni-Institution Partnerships.”
Alumni shared progressive ideas, including increasing student exposure to live industry challenges, integrating sustainability into the curriculum, and leveraging social media to enhance the institute’s brand and reputation.
They also expressed pride in the vibrant community IIM Ranchi has created and fondly reminisced about their time at the institute.

The Homecoming witnessed an enthusiastic turnout, with notable alumni from various flagship programmes reconnecting with their alma mater in large numbers, making it a truly memorable gathering.
