Dhanbad, Sept 25: IIT (ISM) Dhanbad on Thursday felicitated Safai Mitras, Swachhata Coordinators, volunteers, and members of various campus clubs for their contribution to maintaining a clean and green environment under the Swachhata Hi Sewa campaign.

Municipal Commissioner of Dhanbad, Ravi Raj Sharma, graced the occasion as the Guest of Honour. IIT (ISM) Director Prof. Sukumar Mishra, Registrar Prabodh Pandey, Centre of Societal Mission (CSM) Head Prof. S. A. Sahu, and Prof. Deepika Sharma, nodal officer of SHS Campaign 5.0, were also present.

Collaboration Between Civic Bodies and Academia
Addressing the gathering, Guest of Honour Ravi Raj Sharma commended IIT (ISM)’s proactive role in promoting cleanliness. He emphasized that collaboration between civic authorities and academic institutions is vital to building a cleaner and healthier society.

“The efforts of Safai Mitra and volunteers here set an example for the wider community,” Sharma said.
Commitment to Cleanliness and Sustainability
IIT (ISM) Director Prof. Sukumar Mishra highlighted that cleanliness goes beyond hygiene, representing a collective responsibility towards sustainability and social well-being.
“IIT (ISM) takes pride in leading initiatives that align with national missions and instill civic sense among all stakeholders,” he said. Mishra added that the felicitation program not only honored the dedicated efforts of individuals and groups but also reaffirmed the institute’s commitment to cleanliness, sustainability, and community engagement in line with national objectives.

Acknowledging Consistent Efforts
Registrar Prabodh Pandey praised the contribution of Safai Mitra, Swachhata coordinators, volunteers, and members of Deepti Ladies Club, Sampurna Ladies Club, Scolomin Club, Staff Recreation Club, and the Shop Inspection Team. He noted that their consistent dedication ensures year-round cleanliness and hygiene across the institute.
Earlier, Prof. Deepika Sharma welcomed the guests and outlined activities carried out under the SHS campaign, while Prof. S. A. Sahu highlighted the wide range of initiatives undertaken by the Centre of Societal Mission (CSM) in support of the cleanliness drive.
