Dhanbad, June 12: The Indian Institute of Technology (Indian School of Mines), Dhanbad, held a thought-provoking lecture series today focused on “Harnessing Innovation for Environmental Sustainability: Policies, Practices, and Partnerships.” The keynote address was delivered by Dr. Manoj K. M. Chaturvedi, CEO of Global Sustainability Solutions and Services QFZ LLC, Qatar.

ESG: A Strategic Imperative, Not Just Compliance

Dr. Chaturvedi emphasised that Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG) integration is no longer just about meeting regulatory requirements—it is a strategic necessity. “ESG is a transformative force shaping global business, policy, and innovation. It fosters resilience, builds trust, and offers a competitive edge,” he remarked during his keynote.

Lecture Series Under EIACP and Mission LiFE

The event was organised by the Department of Environmental Science and Engineering (ESE) under the EIACP programme, as part of IIT ISM’s centenary celebrations and the national Mission LiFE initiative. The programme aimed to deepen awareness and spark meaningful dialogue on ESG’s role in driving sustainable development.

Academic Leadership and Participation

The session began with a warm welcome by Prof. Sunil Kumar Gupta, Dean (Students’ Welfare), and Prof. Biswajit Paul, HoD (In-charge), Department of ESE and Head, Centre for Mining Environment. Prof. Gupta highlighted the critical role academic institutions play in addressing environmental challenges, urging a stronger bridge between research, policy, and practice.

The event saw enthusiastic participation from M.Tech students, research scholars, faculty members, and staff from both the Environmental Science & Engineering and Civil Engineering departments.

Felicitation Ceremony Marks Conclusion

The lecture concluded with a felicitation ceremony, where Prof. Gupta presented a memento to Dr. Chaturvedi in appreciation of his insightful contributions.
