IIT (ISM) Dhanbad, i-Hub Startup Jharkhand sign MoU to strengthen State’s startup ecosystem

Dhanbad, July 9: The CIIE IIT (ISM) Dhanbad Foundation, the innovation and startup incubation arm of IIT (ISM) Dhanbad, has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with i-Hub Startup Jharkhand, the State government’s nodal agency for promoting startups and entrepreneurship.

The partnership aims to strengthen Jharkhand’s startup ecosystem by promoting innovation, entrepreneurship, technology commercialisation, startup incubation, capacity building and collaboration among industry, academia and government.

Focus on startups and innovation

Under the agreement, the two organisations will jointly organise startup incubation and acceleration programmes, workshops, hackathons, boot camps, entrepreneurial awareness initiatives and skill development programmes.

The collaboration also seeks to facilitate mentorship, incubation support, access to institutional resources, networking opportunities and market linkages for students, researchers, innovators and early-stage startups.

The MoU envisages greater cooperation in technology transfer, commercialisation of research and strengthening industry-academia-government partnerships to support innovation-led economic growth.

Support for entrepreneurs

Speaking on the occasion, Prof. Alok Kumar Das, Dean (Innovation and Corporate Relations), IIT (ISM) Dhanbad, said the partnership would help create a stronger innovation ecosystem by combining the institute’s research capabilities with the State’s startup support network.

He said the collaboration would provide entrepreneurs with mentorship, incubation support, industry linkages and opportunities to translate innovative ideas into scalable enterprises, while contributing to Jharkhand’s emergence as an innovation hub.

Strengthening the startup ecosystem

The CIIE IIT (ISM) Dhanbad Foundation supports technology-based startups through incubation, mentoring, industry partnerships and access to the institute’s research ecosystem.

i-Hub Startup Jharkhand facilitates entrepreneurship in the State through incubation support, mentoring, networking, funding facilitation and policy support for startups.

Officials said the partnership is intended to create a more robust entrepreneurial ecosystem by supporting innovators and enabling startups to scale while contributing to regional economic development.
